I work with a bunch of silly people. There is always something random and humorous going on in one or more of the surrounding cubicles. Today – Nurf darts. One came flying at my face with a post-it note attached when I got back from lunch.
In the last few months, there’s been random, repetitive play of the 1980’s Rick Astley song “Never Gonna Give You Up” for no apparent reason. I never thought much of it besides wow, I haven’t heard that song in so long. It’s kinda catchy though…Plus, my coworkers tend to blare a wide mix of music, new and old, so hearing a little Rick Astley didn’t seem out of the ordinary.
But today, while perusing Digg for anything amusing, I came upon this article about “Rickrolling.” Apparently, random blaring of “Never Gonna Give You Up” is a national phenomenon these days! Who would’ve known? It’s kinda like The Hoff fad of the last few years.
So, I guess I’ll hop on the Rickroll bandwagon and share some of the fun!
His music made me cringe first time around in 1987 so please spare us from a second coming of this Stock Aitken and Waterman manufactured garbage!
I liked the Spice Girls though and wish we were back in 1996.
