Inspired by the summer of 2020: racial equality and Pride month collided to stir up a lot of unrest and tension as much of our nation’s social wounds were torn open. I always love to paint with vivid colors, but the emotions of this time really made the colors mean something. Skin color, Pride rainbow colors – I painted quickly to keep the paint wet so these colors would blend. While we are all individuals, from different backgrounds and lifestyles and challenges, I love how our lives entertwine – one color or perspective alone is boring. Humanity is the beauty and sorrow of all our life and death together.
